If you compare Obama's 2010 budget here with Bush's last budget in 2009, you can clearly see that Obama has no interest in controlling the deficit whatsoever. If you scroll down to Table S-7 (around p.130) you can see Bush's last budget (2009 estimate), along with Obama's budget in 2010. If you look at the State Department funding, you can see that funding for the State Dept rose 41% (!!) from 2009 to 2010.
Frequently we hear from Obama: 1 I had no control over the deficit, it was Bush's fault 2 We had no choice but to spend to save the American economy
Well, what exactly did the 41% increase in State Department spending save? State Dept spending increases saved the economy? State Department funding in 2010 was due to Bush? State Dept budget in 2009 was $36.7 billion, higher than the entire GDP of over 70 countries. Yet Obama/Democrats felt they needed to increase it...41%?
All told, it's a 7% increase across ALL discretionary spending from 2009 to 2010. 7% might not sound like much, but over 14 years or so, that means spending would DOUBLE.
And as for Obama's 2011 budget proposed by Obama (and cowardly not voted on by Democrats until after the election)...
Obama wants to increase State Department spending...another 16%!!
And discretionary spending as a whole...by $240 BILLION more than Bush's 2009 budget, a whopping 22% increase!
That's right, Obama has increased discretionary spending by 22% since October 2009 when Bush passed his last budget.
Clearly this spending must be curtailed, we simply can't afford to max out our credit cards forever.
