If we continue to bail out states, then why would the state legislators have any discipline?
Democrats in state legislatures will say: "We'll just use Daddy's credit card (that's our tax dollars) and give more benefits to state workers and buy votes with expansive social programs. "
With the very real fear of a humiliating bankruptcy on their watch, perhaps legislators can deal with our massive state debt overhang.
